Information for Scythian
Category: Concert
Promoter: The Neighborhood Theatre
Description: SCYTHIAN (sith-ee-yin) belts out a high-energy, adrenaline-peddling, interactive brand of music with one goal in mind; to get people on their feet and dancing. These classically trained musicians are natural showmen who seamlessly blend kicked-up Celtic, folk and world music, and deliver it with a punk-rock sensibility. Combine this with the driving rhythm of a jazz percussionist, and you've got the ingredients for a show you won't soon forget. In a single song, they transport an audience across the globe with the alluring and dramatic strains of gypsy fiddles, the bounce of a Celtic reel, and then cross back over the border to pick up a klezmer hook and some good old-fashioned bluegrass licks.

Featured Artists
Delta Rae   From a simple, white house in the woods of North Carolina, Delta Rae brings together four unique voices to harmonize over songs born out of the rhythms and scenery of the coasts and country of America. Siblings Ian, Eric, and Brittany Holljes, along with their childhood friend, Elizabeth Hopkins, sing with a grit and soul older than their early twenty years would suggest. Harkening back to bands like Fleetwood Mac, the Mamas and the Papas, and Peter, Paul, and Mary, Delta Rae brings its own fresh sound and distinctive songwriting to a genre pioneered by such legends.
Scythian   Rousing and raucous, Scythian (sith-ee-yin) plays kicked-up Celtic and world music with hints of Gypsy and Klezmer, all infused with a touch of punk-rock sensibility. Take a pair of classically trained dueling fiddlers, toss in a rhythm guitar and the occasional funky accordion, then power it with the driving rhythm of a jazz percussionist, and you've got the ingredients for a show you won't soon forget. Their high-energy, adrenaline-peddling, interactive brand of music has one goal in mind; to get people on their feet and dancing. Their repertoire ranges from traditional and contemporary Celtic and folk music to the alluring and dramatic strains of Gypsy and Eastern European tunes, and then crosses back over the border to pick up some good old-fashioned bluegrass licks.
