The Theatre has a capacity of 956 if all areas are open. This includes the dance floor, balcony, bar area & "Other Side" area. For "Listening Room" style shows, we have the capability to do 600 seated.
Seating Policy: Depending on the show, we will sell tickets in the following ways: 1. General Admission and seats will be available on a first come first serve basis, so if you want a good seat, please make sure to get here early; 2. Seat Guaranteed Tickets which means that we will have a seat for you & the show is 100% seated, but where it is depends upon what time you get here to reserve it . Please check the individual show information for the type of ticketing available. We do not reserve seats in advance, nor do we sell tickets based on seat numbers. All events are General Admission on a first come basis through the door. You choose & reserve your seat once you enter the Theatre. Door & show times are listed under each event and vary depending on the event listed. Please go to our photo page to get a visual by what we mean with "dance floor will be open". What this means is that we have an area in front of the stage that either gets portable chairs for the "listening room" shows or no chairs for the more upbeat dancing shows. If a show lists "main hall floor open", this means that there will be no seats in the main hall. We have made many changes in the theatre over the years and one of them is that all seats are portable, this gives us the ability to have 100% standing shows as well as 100% seated shows. If you have any question or concerns about a specific event capacity, seating arrangement or ticketing, please call our venue Box Office at (704) 358-9298 or email melton@neighborhoodtheatre.com . All sales final, no refunds.
Shows are all ages unless otherwise noted.

The Canadian indie rock, METRIC makes their Neighborhood Theatre debut while on tour for their new album Fantasies. Metric blends somewhat familiar, new wave synth lines with rythmic, choppy guitar accompaniment. Singer Emily Haines of Broken Social Scene, can croon like a diva from the chill-out tent or she can spike things up with a Blondie-meets-Kathleen Hanna hiccup. If you're looking for snapshots of punk and new wave bliss in easy-to-digest pop capsules, Metric is your band.
Metric's "Monster Hospital", "Police and the Private" and "Front Row" have been used on the television show Grey's Anatomy. "Monster Hospital" has also been used in CSI: Miami and "Gold Gun Girls" has been used on Entourage. Their albums have been nominated for several award including the Juno Award - Best Alternative Album and Polaris Music Prize - Canadian Album of The Year.
Band of Skulls opens
Band of Skulls' song Friends will be featured on the soundtrack of Twilight New Moon.

Hard-rocking blues-soaked guitarist/vocalist/song-writer Tinsley Ellis sings and plays with the energy and soul of all the great Southern musicians who have come before him. Ellis attacks his music with rock power and blues feeling, following in the tradition of Deep South musical heroes Duane Allman, Freddie King, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes. His live shows feature extended fretwork filled with melodic and rhythmic experimentation, in the spirit of jam bands like his friends Widespread Panic and The Allman Brothers. Atlanta Magazine declared Ellis "the most significant blues artist to emerge from Atlanta since Blind Willie McTell," Since first hitting the national scene with his Alligator Records debut, GEORGIA BLUE in 1988, Ellis has toured non-stop and continued to release one critically acclaimed album after another. His stellar guitar work, always a staple of his live shows and CDs, is matched by his strong songwriting and powerful, soulful vocals. Tinsley's hometown paper, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, calls his music, "a potent, amazing trip through electric blues-rock."

GRAMMY Award-winning Dobro master Jerry Douglas returns to the Neighborhood Theater with special guests John Oates (of Hall & Oates) and Maura O'Connell.
Jerry Douglas, internationally recognized as the world's most renowned Dobro player, Jerry Douglas undoubtedly ranks amongst the top contemporary maestros in American music. Douglas's musical brilliance has graced over 2,000 recordings and in February 2008, Beard Guitars released the "Jerry Douglas Signature Resonator Guitar." Douglas's latest recording, Glide, marks his twelfth solo release. Featuring nine instrumental compositions and two tracks with standout vocal performances by country music legends Travis Tritt and Rodney Crowell, Glide portrays his adventurous and eclectic musical palette as it incorporates elements of bluegrass, country, rock, folk, Celtic, Scottish and New Orleans-inspired music. Earl Scruggs, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer, Lloyd Green, Tony Rice, and Carmella Ramsey also appear on the album. Douglas completed a four-part music series as the 2008 artist-in-residence at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, TN. Notable guests in attendance included Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks, Alison Krauss,Travis Tritt, Emmylou Harris, Earl Scruggs, Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer, Guy Clark, Ricky Skaggs, Lloyd Green, Jesse Winchester, and many others. Douglas recently won the Academy of Country Music's "Top Specialty Instrument Player of the Year" award for the Dobro, and the Country Music Association just nominated him for the "2008 Musician of the Year" award.
John Oates (of Hall & Oates), an American rock guitarist, musician, songwriter and producer best known as half of the rock/soul duo Hall & Oates. Though he was a primary guitarist, he also wrote or co-wrote numerous popular songs with Hall, such as, "Sara Smile", You Make My Dreams", "She's Gone", "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)", "One on One", "Maneater", "Everything Your Heart Desires", "Out of Touch" and "Adult Education". He also sang lead vocals on "How Does It Feel to Be Back", "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" and "Possession Obsession". In addition to his work with Hall, Oates co-wrote "Electric Blue" for the band Icehouse which was a Billboard Top Ten hit.
Maura O'Connell, a Grammy Award-nominated Irish singer and actress. She is known for her contemporary interpretation of Irish folk songs, strongly influenced by American country music. O'Connell's restless muse could not be safely contained under the banner of Celtic music, and she soon discovered both an interest in and affinity for progressive American roots music. Following her self-titled solo debut in 1983, she collaborated with Bla Fleck (then of the NewGrass Revival) on 1988's Just In Time, which inaugurated a string of albums marked by O'Connell's tasteful, moving interpretations of songs spanning many traditions and authors. She recorded three acclaimed albums for Warner Bros. (including the Grammy-nominated Helpless Heart), before moving to Joe Boyd's Hannibal imprint and then to Sugar Hill, for whom she made the rattling, guitar driven Walls and Windows (produced by Ray Kennedy) and the more introspective Don't I Know, the fourth O'Connell album to produced by dobro maverick Jerry Douglas. In addition to her solo work, O'Connell has collaborated with a number Celtic, folk, pop and country artists, including Van Morrison, Brian Kennedy, Moya Brennan, Mary Black, John Gorka, Bela Fleck, Robert Earl Keen, Dolly Parton and Shawn Colvin. She has also sung background vocals for a number of artists, including Van Morrison's 1988 project with the Chieftains, Irish Heartbeat and Stockton's Wing on Take A Chance (Tara3004).

**FREE MUSIC NIGHT** w/Scythian ...one of my favorites and I'm thrilled to have them here at Neighborhood Theatre for first time! -melton
So as the holidays near leave the company parties and hustle-n-bustle behind and join us for spirits...cheer...free music and Scythian!
Scythian (sith-ee-yin) belts out a high-energy, adrenaline-peddling, interactive brand of music with one goal in mind; to get people on their feet and dancing. These classically trained musicians are natural showmen who seamlessly blend kicked-up Celtic, folk and world music, and deliver it with a punk-rock sensibility. Combine this with the driving rhythm of a jazz percussionist, and you've got the ingredients for a show you won't soon forget. In a single song, they transport an audience across the globe with the alluring and dramatic strains of gypsy fiddles, the bounce of a Celtic reel, and then cross back over the border to pick up a klezmer hook and some good old-fashioned bluegrass licks.

Ghostland Observatory makes their Neighborhood Theatre debut and it is sure to be a memorable night for all!
Ghostland Observatory has released two albums in less than a year, and have moved audiences from coast to coast with their live performances and unique style. Ghostland Observatory is the duo of front man Aaron Behrens and producer/drummer Thomas Turner. Behrens vocal style and stage performances are unique and uncompromising, and he has drawn early comparisons to Freddie Mercury and Prince. Turner is heavily influenced by electronic artists such as Daft Punk, Laurent Garnier and Green Velvet, as well as rockers such as The Animals, David Bowie, and The Clash. With their spectral blend of electronics, drums, guitar and vocals, they have emerged with a sound that is the culmination of past influence and present inspiration, and can only be described as BALLSY.

Two regional favorites, Josh Phillips Folk Festival and Laura Reed take the stage in one night!
Singer, guitarist, and percussionist of Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band Josh Phillips has recently left the Booty Band in pursuit of his new project, Josh Phillips Folk Festival. Though the Folk Festival plays some of the same songs that Josh has written with the Booty Band, the overall vibe is more song oriented and less of the party vibe that is synonymous with the Booty Band experience. While the music seamlessly bounces between folk, world, reggae, and R&B, the common theme of the music is heart felt lyrics with a strong focus on the song itself.
Laura Reed joined by her trio fills the stage with captivating, soul shaking, conscious music. The crowd is emerged with lyrics of truth and a voice of intensity backed by harmonies reminiscent of the past days of motown and funk. The roots of their sound and message stem from Lauras diverse experience of growing up in South Africa and the American South. The trio switches up the music between funk, progressive R&B, and pure SOUL behind Laura Reeds captivating stage presence.

Sons of Bill returns to Neighborhood Theatre, joins us for *FREE MUSIC NIGHT* and holiday cheer!
It starts with the music. A sound that's all too familiar, yet somehow resists an easy definition. Too edgy for Nashville, but too earnest for New York. Drawing comparisons to artists ranging from George Jones to the Gin Blossoms Gram Parsons to Guns and Roses Sons of Bill have been called "equal parts raucous and reflective." A sound which is revolutionary only in its simplicity.
It starts with the music because it started with the music. Bill Wilson's three eldest sons grew up listening to him fingerpick old country tunes around the house. They learned to sing harmony at family holidays and inherited old guitars with their hand-me-down jeans. The past two decades sent James, Sam and Abe in disparate musical directions: teenage heavy metal fests, old-time barn dances, college bars and New York City jazz clubs. But in 2005 the brothers all returned one from a cattle ranch in Nevada, one from an apartment in Brooklyn, one from Grad school in Maryland and for the first time in their lives they began to make music together. With the addition of long-time friends Seth Green and Brian Caputo, Bill's sons became Sons of Bill.
With a live show known to evolve from acoustic ballads into sweaty stage-dives, Sons of Bill has gained a loyal fan base from Florida to NYC, sharing the stage with acts ranging from Robert Randolph to Robert Earl Keen.

Blue Dogs were formed in Charleston, SC, in 1987 by lead singer/guitarist Bobby Houck and bassist Hank Futch, who had known each other since childhood and played together in college. Drummer Greg Walker came along later, joining the band in 1993. At first, the Blue Dogs were acoustic-oriented and played a lot of bluegrass and country covers. But in the early '90s, they went electric and shifted their focus to roots rock, country-rock, and Southern rock; the artists who have influenced the electric version of the Blue Dogs range from the Wallflowers and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers to Little Feat and John Cougar Mellencamp. The Blue Dogs' first album came out in 1991, when they released Music for Dog People on their own Black River label. That album was followed by 1993's Soul Dogfood and 1995's Street Theater, both of which are also on Black River. While those three releases were full of cover songs, the Blue Dogs' fourth album, The Blue Dogs (which was produced by John Alagia and came out in 1997) marked the first time that one of their albums contained nothing but original material. In 1998, the band recorded its fifth album, For the Record, a live CD that was followed by a studio effort titled Letters From Round O (which was produced by Cracker's David Lowery in 1999). The Blue Dogs' seventh release, Live at the Florence Little Theater, was recorded in 1998 but didn't actually come out until 2002. For the Blue Dogs, personnel can change from one album to the next; a Blue Dogs album (either live or studio) will typically include core members along with what could be called an extended family of fellow Southern musicians.

Keller Williams announces the Nocturnal Never Negative New Year's Nomadic Notion Run, featuring "Keller Williams and the Added Bonus".
Keller Williams and his latest project, Keller Williams and the Added Bonus, will perform some very special shows this holiday season - including the first ever NOCTURNAL NEVER NEGATIVE NEW YEARS NOMADIC NOTION RUN at the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte, NC on December 31st for a very special 3-set New Years Eve event. This holiday show will feature an even blend of Kellers epic live solo looping performance and Keller with his latest muse, Keller Williams and the Added Bonus. For the Added Bonus, expect new KW flavors of grassy disco jazz funk featuring Claude Arthur on bass, Jay Starling on keys, dobro, lap steel and guitar and Toby Fairchild on drums.
Long considered one of the most unique and prolific performers in all of rock, the Fredericksburg, Virginia native is known for flying by the seat of his pants on stage, utilizing an unorthodox approach that centers around an Echoplex Digital Pro looping unit, which allows Keller to alternate between several instruments on stage. For Keller Williams latest studio release, ODD (August 2009 / SCI Fidelity Records), Keller covers an impressive amount of stylistic ground - everything from the off-the-wall (Day at the Office) to piano-based lounge music (Warning), and even a tribute to legendary afrobeat musician Fela Kuti (Song for Fela). And somehow, the singer/multi-instrumentalist ties it all together into a unified sound/approach - that is unmistakably Keller.
KELLER WILLIAMS on tour in support of his new album ODD.

The Asylum Street Spankers are named for a street in Austin, Texas, that once led to the State Asylum. They've been called a postmodern jug band and "Hee-Haw for hipsters," among other things. They use fiddles, resonator guitars and even a saw, one of five instruments key contributor Christina Marrs has taught herself.
Their music is drawn mostly from the early 20th century, yet many of the lyrics aren't suitable for radio -- they're a bit too naughty.
Founded over ten years ago at the Dabbs hotel along the river in Llano, Texas, the Asylum Street Spankers stand as one of the America's most distinctive groups. Defiantly acoustic, fiercely independent and absurdly good, the Spankers have been led by founders Christina Marrs and Wammo from being a country-blues revival act playing happy hours in Austin, through nearly 40 musicians, endless touring and constant evolution to being an internationally renowned underground institution.
Fueled by an ethos born of their punk roots, Marrs and Wammo have built their lives around making unique music that surprises and entertains. Both new releases, Mercurial and Sideshow Fez, prove that their shared vision of the Asylum Street Spankers - smart, challenging music, sly, sophisticated showmanship and determined inventiveness - succeeds on every count.

Known as southern rock pioneers. their seven gold and three platinum albums have spawned classic hits like Heard It In a Love Song, Fire On The Mountain, Can't You See, and Take The Highway, and their definitive blend of rock, rhythm & blues, jazz, country, and gospel has earned them hit singles on both the Billboard Country and Gospel charts. They continue to be played on classic rock and country radio; and after 30 yrs of touring they can still rock your socks off!
The Marshall Tucker Band consists of Gray, Milner, Lawter, Swanlund, David Muse (formerly of Firefall, on sax, flute, and keys), and drummer B.B. Borden (formerly of Mother's Finest). The band took several stylistic detours with 1998's all-blues outing Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. A thorough reissue campaign was inaugurated in 2003, and the new studio record Beyond the Horizon appeared one year later. In 2006, the group released a live 1980 concert, Live on Long Island, and another new studio project, The Next Adventure, appeared in 2007.

Giving homage in a continually evolving artistic outlet, the Dark Star Orchestra recreates historic Grateful Dead set lists with compelling accuracy. Each night, the Chicago-based band decides on performing one show from the over 2,500 that the Grateful Dead originally performed during their 30 year tenure as fathers of improvisational rock.
Dark Star Orchestra presents the complete original set list, song by song, and in order, with uncanny faithful interpretation. To date, DSO has covered more than 1,300 different Grateful Dead shows.
At the end of every performance, the band announces the date and venue where the original show just covered took place. Dark Star Orchestra dips into every incarnation of the Dead, so most fans can "see" shows that happened long before they were born.
