MOVED TO THE MAIN STAGE!!!!! Snake Oil Medicine Show is a caravan, whose shows include live art & sounds that veer
from Jazz to Bluegrass to Swing...purely original instrumental. Snake
Oil Medicine Show carries a sense of abandon, from music to
art. Their music defies every convention, practicing "creative
anarchy". Songs are guaranteed to splash all over the musical spectrum.
A bluegrass, hillbilly, undercurrent bobs throughout,
an always dynamic interplay of strings, ragtime bop, a frenzied
rhythmic dialogue, oozing experimental jazz and all those extra sounds
- the drums, the whistles, the horns, the spoons and an occasional
blast upon the sea-shell conch!

"From the fertile valley of Deer Lick Holler, deep in the heart of Appalachia, comes a sound that is old yet new. In an area completely isolated from outside cultural and musical influence, this band of acoustic musicians grew up playing the traditional music of their forefathers. Then, as fate would have it, one crisp fall afternoon, a stranger passed through the holler. Well, he almost made it through. Unfortunately for him, but fortunately for appreciators of great music worldwide, the stranger crashed his car into a stately old oak tree at Devil's Elbow Curve. Sadly, the stranger expired, but his legacy lives on. For under the back seat of his car, the boys found some old black vinyl records as they went through his belongings looking for identification. All they had to listen to them on was an old Edison Victrola that only played at 78 R.P.M., but the boys all agreed it was some mighty fine country music. So, in memory of the stranger who had perished the boys set about learning these songs . . . "
The records in the car, of course, were by the band AC/DC. And the boys recorded an album of the songs in their own mountain / bluegrass style - with fiddle, mandolin, banjo and such. As it turns out, members of AC/DC became aware of Hayseed Dixie just as they were beginning to tour. AC/DC bassist Cliff Williams invited the band to play at a tour-wrap party, and even joined them onstage to play bass on "Have a Drink On Me."
We've had a blast with these guys on our Other Side stage and this time around are moving the party to the main stage!!

Looks can be deceiving - and when you see Chatham County Line on stage, you expect a traditional Bluegrass band. Although the band has always stayed true to their traditional instrumentation, they don't limit themselves. Their music is progressive, using bluegrass as a jumping off point, accessing all that is roots music - mixing gospel, country, rock and pop. That's American music and Chatham County Line is an American Band.

Delbert McClinton proudly defies classifications. His music blends his Texas roots with roadhouse rock, juke-joint blues, Memphis soul and country. During his entire recording career, record labels have consistently tried to pigeonhole Delbert's music. But if you ask the critics about Delbert's dynamic vocals and harmonica style, you'll hear descriptions ranging from 'honky-tonk,' 'blue-eyed soul,' and 'Texas stomp' to 'country rock' and 'blues.' Delbert's music rebels against traditional categorization. Ask Delbert what kind of music he plays and he'll say, "Fun music."

"An old soul" is something Jakob Dylan has been described as many times. But he'll readily admit that he doesn't know what that means. Perhaps, in his case, it's the sense about him that he had a grasp of who he was much earlier in life than most people's or at least, who he didn't want to be. As a result, this may be why fans and critics alike continue to recognize an honesty in his songs and words. Not an easy accomplishment in a business that routinely asks artists to morph themselves into something that might sell more records.

Toubab Krewe's strong Malian flavor is peppered with tastes of Caribbean, Jamaican, and, as the band puts it, "dirty south" music. Most of the band members' roots are in Asheville, North Carolina, and their southern neighbors often confuse the harp-like ngoni and kora for a banjo. Yet, Toubab Krewe's Teal Brown, Drew Heller, Justin Perkins, David Pransky, and Luke Quaranta emanate the energetic spirit that is an essential element of the dance music in Africa. Toubab Krewe's name is, in fact, a stellar reflection of their multicultural musical interests. The word "toubab" means "white people" or "foreigners" in the Malinke and Bambara languages and is used in a non-derogatory way to refer to white people all over West Africa. The spelling of "Krewe" references New Orleans, which Brown says is "because New Orleans is the gateway through which so much music came to us--ragtime, blues, jazz. It's a reference to that portal."
The band has spent extensive time in West Africa studying and performing with musical legends such as Lamine Soumano, Vieux Kante, Madou Dembele, and Koungbanan Conde. Thus, their use of traditional instruments like the soku, kamel ngoni, and kora, is not only professional and informed, but inspired and natural, as well.

Dickey Betts, is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter, most known for his work as a founding member of the southern blues/rock group The Allman Brothers Band.
Betts' early experience was leading a band called The Second Coming, before he and other Florida area musicians met, jammed, and formed The Allman Brothers Band in 1969. Betts was the band's second lead guitarist, behind Duane Allman, and contributed significantly to their trademark dual lead guitar sound. He also wrote songs like "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" and "Blue Sky" that became radio and concert staples.
After the death of Duane Allman in late 1971, Betts became the band's sole guitarist, and also took on a greater singing and leadership role. He went on to write such Southern Rock classics as "Jessica", and the Allmans' biggest commercial hit, "Ramblin' Man".
After leaving the Allman Brothers Band in 2000, Betts now tours with his own band, Dickey Betts and Great Southern, which has recently added Dickey's son, Duane Betts, on lead guitar.

"When I was a kid, I was a listener," says Clarence Greenwood, a.k.a. Citizen Cope. "Music was something coming out of a radio or off a record, something that made me feel these things I couldn't explain. It was magical to me, and I thought it was something you had to be ordained with."
What's clear when you listen to Cope's own music now, years after he sat transfixed in front of his stereo speakers, is that he *is* ordained. Or touched. Or blessed. Or however you want to say it: The man has the gift. It's never been more evident as on "Every Waking Moment," his third album (second release for RCA). By far his most personal recording, "Every Waking Moment" shows Cope continuing his deep exploration of the world that confronts all of us every day. How do we love those we care about? How do we change a world that throws daily horrors in our faces? How do we live with ourselves day after day? How do we capture joy?
If you've heard any of the work that Cope has created over the past few years, you already know how quickly he can paint a masterpiece with the lightest of brushstrokes and how he captures a character in just a few words.

After the breakup of popular experimental lo-fi indie rock band the Unicorns, members Nick Diamonds (vocals, guitar, keyboard) and J'aime Tambeur (drums) formed Islands, which found the two more focused on brighter production and neo-psychedelic indie pop. Since forming in early 2005, the Canadian band has also featured a fluctuating lineup of contributors on a wide variety of instruments, both live and on record. Islands released the debut album Return to the Sea in April 2006. For one of its first shows, Islands opened for Beck at the 2005 Pop Montreal music festival, followed in October 2005 by a short tour with Beck. On another tour in early 2006 the band was opening for Metric. That May the band announced that Tambeur would be leaving Islands, citing a loss of interest in being in a band. Islands are now performing with a strikingly new lineup featuring new drummer Aaron Harris and new vocalist/violinist/percussionist Kate Perkins.

Since its inception nearly ten years ago, Gaelic Storm continue to broaden the musical horizons of the Celtic music genre by creating compelling originals and fresh arrangements steeped in Irish traditional melody and acoustic instrumentation combined with their unique blend of world rhythms. The 14 new tracks on Bring Yer Wellies, capture the contagious energy of Gaelic Storm's renowned live performances. Channeling the rowdy communal feel of an Irish pub on raucous sing-alongs, driving pipe sets and spirited fiddle tunes, the band's sixth studio album was recorded in a one-month fury in April 2006 at The Zone recording studio in Austin Texas.
In 1997, Gaelic Storm was catapulted out of their formative pub haunts by an appearance in the blockbuster film Titanic. Cast as the "party band" in the steerage scene, they landed the part while still drinking pints and playing weekly at O'Brien's, a pub in their adopted home-town of Santa Monica, CA. After the film's release, the band was met by huge crowds on their first tour. However, they still pride themselves on remaining as accessible as ever and sharing "a pint" with fans whenever possible.
